At last the great moment was coming. With kind assistance of the landlord Wolfgang brings me to the Leinach week-end house. The driveway is slightly inclined! So the men have to support me laterally so that I would not fall aside. They are producing a lot of sweat, since they have to pull me off the car on a wooden slide onto the little caterpillar pianoplan, and that costs power. I am getting problems with balance but the lateral support helps me to keep the upright position. After fastening the "seat belt" we start driving down to the house.
The passage through the little garden door is no problem because when I am upright I am only as wide as 50 cm more or less like a person walking. The legs are always taken off which takes only a few seconds with their special connection four tour pianos. OK, down three steps, but then..... I nearly fall into the pine tree beside the walk. The last step is not straight...
Now 4 meters straight ahead on a horizontal passage. Then a 90 ° turn left. For that Wolfgang has to lift the whole unit of pianoplan and myself about 20 cm to make the turn and avoid getting blocked by some bushes. One of them has already been moved to another place by the landlord.
Wow, now comes the main stair with 11 steps! Gosh, the bending down on the inclination of the stairs works well. But then it happens! The single steps are put only loosely onto sand. They just turn up under the immens weight of 620 kg and the whole thing begins to slide nearly uncontrollable! Nobody knows how we arrived at the bottom of the stair without any damage. Maybe the guardian angel of Wolfgang helped.
That was not the only problem of the first transport. The entrance door of the house was too low for me on top of the pianoplan. So I had to be taken down on the floor over a wooden ramp and roll me into the living room on my slide. Wolfgang had already fixed a little electric motor over the door to the little room so that he could let me down on my legs easily after mounting two of the three legs before. Then pianopaln lifts me up on the third corner, the third leg is mounted and I was let down to stand in my new house for the first time.
Beside the corner there is a gas stove. Very good it can hold temperature automatically. That was one of the main conditions to take that house.
Right from the entrance there is the biggest window with a nice panoramic view of a little valley and the sky always showing different colours and sceneries of the clouds. A little path is leading downwards into the steep garden which is limited by some bushes at the bottom of the valley. On the left there is the sleeping room, then a little "children's room" and the kitchen.
There is only water from a rain collector and just from now on there is electricity! Without that it would have been difficult to work at night. Also for radio, TV and the stereo, last not least for the computer it was essential to have electricity: How to write the invoices otherwise?
So the essential things were setup at a certain minimum. First of all we could make music all around the clock! Not that Wolfgang was working so much but he needs the flexibility for his tight schedules.
As the last step the pedal is mounted and then the landlord gets the first little recital and he is happy, too that everything worked out fine.
The following Sunday, two days after the beginning of spring (after the calendar) there is a little party in the house though it is raining. About 20 friends come, a lot of music is made, nice food and drinks, there is just enough place for everybody to sit.
Another four days later I go on tour again. Meanwhile the steps had been fixed with screws but it is still shaky to go up or down that stair... Well, Wolfgang is going to improve the conditions step by step. I have nearly forgotten the dangerous sliding from the first time.
This time we are going to the little city of Aub, half an hour south from Wuerzburg where the second piano course for medical doctors shall take place.
